This year Catherine and Paul Mohr approached Jana Geller Design to help with color selection for the home they are building. Meeting them at their job site, it was very exciting to see that they are building a Green home. They have been very careful to approach the project as Green as possible both in the interior and exterior.
The style of their home is Zen Modern, with a very important focus of bringing nature into the living space. Catherine and Paul are keeping a blog (www.301monroe.com) of their research in regard to energy usage of each selection.

One of the great things about working with Paul and Catherine and their daughter, Natalie, is their great love of color. In developing the color selection throughout the home, the most challenging part was where the stairwell meets five different walls. The stairwell wall is the integrating feature from the first floor to the second floor. Discovering the combination of lively colors led to a great conclusion fitting their love of nature.

In addition to color selection, Jana Geller Design worked on the tile and stone selection and design. For the kitchen, a special granite with a leather finish was chosen. It shows off the beautiful color in the stone. The next step was working with the fabricator, Atlas Stone and Marble. After measuring of the cabinets, wood templates for the stone were created. Templating is very important for design purposes and getting the most beauty from stone. |
| The Mohr's master bath design is based on their Zen Modern style. Knowing that they have a beautiful 4'x4' hand made copper soaking tub to be placed in the shower pan by the windows opposite the shower heads, we wanted to bring in a design that was fitting. My recommendation was a honed copper slate cut horizontally. Random inserts of copper liners echo the copper tub. |

The next step is to create the teak shower wall based
on the black marble curb.

"Jana was a real joy to work with, and I can't recommend her strongly enough. When we started working with her, we were in the middle of building our house, and we had a design theme that ran through the entire house, but we were floundering around trying to find materials and colors that would work well. Jana was immediately able to understand what we were looking for and liked and quickly helped us find stone, tile and color combinations that we loved, but would NEVER have found on our own. She also has great working relationships with a wide range of craftsmen who were able to fabricate the many fairly specialized pieces that we needed to make these designs a reality."
